Maintenance / Polishing (Basic)

Restring if needed, clean, inspect, and adjust the hardware and electronics. Polish the frets and fretboard, get rid of all the dirt and grime

Includes the following:

  • Clean the guitar body and fretboard.

  • Polish the frets with three different Scotch-Brite Pads.

  • ( 1) Maroon: very fine aluminum oxide abrasive.

  • (2) Gray: ultra-fine for finishing.

  • (3) White: Ideal for gentle cleaning ( Frets and hardware.

Lastly:

  • Polish the frets with Miracle Cloth.

  • It buffs up your frets and conditions the fretboard.

Maintenance / Polishing ( Deluxe)

Restring, clean, inspect, and adjust the hardware and electronics, and spend more time polishing the frets individually to achieve a buttery-smooth glass feel. The strings will glide over the frets better when bending.

Steps included:

  • Clean the guitar body and fretboard.

  • Polish the frets with Micro-Mesh.

  • Using four different grits that deliver uniform, floating abrasive crystals bonded to a flexible, resilient cloth backing, giving superior results.

Mirco-Mesh is a specialized, ultra-fine abrasive material designed to produce mirror-like finishes on frets.

  • Grits: 1000 - 3600, 6000 and 12000.

Apply a petroleum-free formulation designed to clean, smooth, and polish all frets. Improve playability and string life. Removes oxidation.

Guitar Setup

Guitars require full adjustments to maintain proper playability and performance, so they play comfortably, stay in tune, and sound their best. Whether you’ve got an acoustic or electric, a proper setup can make a huge difference.

Setups include the following:

  • Restringthe guitar (if you have strings, bring them, or we can supply them at an extra cost).

  • Check the hardware and electronics.

  • Clean and condition the fretboard.

  • Clean and polish the entire guitar.

  • Polish frets to remove grime, dirt and corrosion.

  • Adjust the relief in the neck (truss rod).

  • Adjust the string height at the bridge.

  • Adjust the string height at the nut.

  • Adjust the pickup height.

  • Adjust the intonation.

Fretwork: Fret Ends Dressing

Fretwork basics: check frets, see if they are old or dirty, and check if your playing is suffering.

Removing sharp edges and polishing your frets will help your strings move up and down the fretboard. Make sure frets are seated.

Fretwork: Levelling

Fretwork occurs when the frets stop doing their job cleanly, either because they’re worn, uneven, or poorly installed.

When the frets have become worn out in areas. Levelling, crowning, and polishing: Ensuring all frets are the same height, then shaping and smoothing them for optimal performance.

Fretwork: Refret

When your frets start to get too many dents, or pop out from the fretboard, or you have old fret wire, losing a lot of material from constant playing and bending, it’s time to replace the frets.

Remove the old frets and replace them with new wire, pressing or hammering it in before levelling, crowning, and polishing.

Refretting Preparation

  • Check the guitar neck and make sure the truss rod is working. Protect the guitar with tape.

  • Remove strings, nut and hardware if needed.

  • Removal of frets

  • Fix any wood chips or scratches

  • Clean the guitar slots

  • Level the radius to its original radius.

  • Add new fret wire cut to correct length, bend wire to radius.

  • Cut the tangs if needed, seat the frets into place, and add a tiny amount of thin super glue.

  • Trim, level, and create a smooth, comfortable feel on the fret ends.

  • Level and crown the frets, making sure they are all perfectly even and rounded.

  • Polishing the fretboard and completing a guitar setup.

NOTE: Add On.

Stainless Steel Fret added cost.

Bounded and Maple fretboards may need more attention and cost.
